Alexandria Devonish, MSW, LCSWA
Life comes at you fast, and sometimes it feels like you’re expected to juggle work, school, family, relationships, and your own mental health without dropping a single thing. If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure how to take the next step, you’re in the right place. Therapy with me feels like talking to someone who gets it, someone who’s going to be honest with you, support you, and help you figure things out one problem at a time.
I’m a realist and a person‑centered, solution‑focused therapist. I work especially well with African American women navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, adjustment disorder, life transitions, work stress, school challenges, and relationship concerns. Many of my clients come to me wanting help with boundaries, communication, and self‑esteem, and I enjoy supporting them as they learn to show up more confidently in their lives and relationships.
I believe in breaking things down into manageable pieces, finding practical solutions, and helping you build a life that feels more grounded and intentional. You don’t have to have everything figured out. You just need a place where you can show up as yourself and start sorting through what’s next.
My approach is collaborative, direct, and empowering. I’m not here to sugarcoat things, and I’m not here to judge you. I’m here to help you get clear on what you want, even if you’re not sure yet, and to guide you toward the version of yourself you’re trying to grow into. Whether we’re talking through stress, unpacking old patterns, healing from past experiences, or literally pulling out a planner to map out your next steps, my goal is for you to leave each session feeling more capable, confident, and connected to your own strength.
My Experience
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate with a Master of Social Work degree from the University of South Carolina (Columbia), earned through their advanced standing program in May 2020. I completed my Bachelor of Social Work at SUNY Buffalo State in 2019, along with a second degree in Criminal Justice. My post‑graduate experience includes working in mobile crisis services, supporting individuals of all ages through acute stressors, trauma, and mental health challenges.
When I’m not in therapist mode, I’m...
Getting my nails done, trying new recipes for my TikTok cooking and beauty page, staying active, and spending time with my family. I love expressing myself through style, creativity, and the little rituals that make life feel more balanced.
