Shakeera tells us a little about herself and the power of therapy.
Shakeera Stephenson, LCSW
Life has a funny way of changing the plans we swore we’d stick to. One minute you feel like you’ve got things figured out, and the next you’re overthinking every text message, questioning who you are, and wondering if everyone else got the “how to adult” manual except you. If that sounds familiar, you’re in good company. I help young adults navigate life transitions, identity shifts, and relationship stress without feeling like they’re losing themselves along the way. Together, we’ll sort through the mental clutter, quiet the overthinking, and help you feel more grounded and confident in who you’re becoming.
I offer a calm, supportive space where you can be honest about your thoughts, emotions, and the pressure you may be carrying. Many of my clients come in feeling stuck between chapters, unsure of their identity, overwhelmed by expectations, or trying to balance career goals with personal growth. My approach is warm, collaborative, and tailored to your needs, blending CBT, DBT, ACT, psychodynamic therapy, and solution‑focused strategies. Think of me as someone who’ll meet you where you are, hand you the tools you need, and cheer you on as you step into your next chapter — no judgment, no pressure, and no pretending you’ve got it all together.
Beginning therapy is a meaningful step toward clarity and confidence. My role is to offer steadiness, compassion, and clinically grounded guidance as you navigate transitions, identity shifts, relationship stress, and the uncertainty that comes with change. If you’re ready to feel more regulated, grounded, and connected to yourself, I’m here to support your next chapter.
My Experience
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over three years of experience supporting clients through anxiety, overthinking, life transitions, and relationship challenges. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, with a minor in Sociology, from North Carolina A&T State University, followed by my Master’s in Social Work through the Joint Master of Social Work Program. My background includes outpatient therapy, ABA work, and family‑centered services, giving me a strong foundation in understanding behavior, emotional regulation, and the impact of relationships and environment on mental health.
Across settings, I’ve helped clients navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, identity development, and major life adjustments. My work is grounded in helping young adults build insight, strengthen coping skills, and move through change with clarity and confidence.
I provide virtual therapy to clients in North Carolina and Florida.
When I’m not in therapist mode, I’m...
Usually working out, spending time with friends and family, traveling, or exploring new restaurants. I love finding great food spots and discovering new places, anything that brings connection, joy, and a little adventure.
