Alex W. MA, LCMHC

You are looking for a space where you can exhale and trust that whatever you bring will be held gently and carefully. A place where you can slow down and share the weight you’ve been carrying—at your own pace. Perhaps you’re seeking relief, resources, or a deeper understanding of yourself and your relational patterns. I would be honored to join you in that journey.

I specialize in supporting clients navigating trauma, sexual trauma, relational ruptures, marginalization, mood disorders, and eating disorders. My approach integrates trauma-informed mind-body practices, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing), parts work, attachment and relational work, as well as experiential techniques. I consider systemic, societal, and environmental contexts as a foundational part of my counseling practice.

Therapy with me is intended to feel liberating. Together, we can co-create your healing space. I aim to anchor our work in compassion, foster insight and clarity, and gently challenge patterns that may no longer serve you.

My Experience

I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Therapist with experience in group practice, community, and school-based settings, as well as PHP and IOP programs. I earned a Bachelor’s in Public Relations from the University of Georgia in 2020 and a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2023. I particularly enjoy supporting families and couples as they navigate the impact of mental health on family dynamics. With clients under 10, I incorporate child-centered play therapy to create a safe and engaging space.

Currently self-pay only, however, I will be in-network with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, MedCost, UMR, and United Healthcare soon!

When I’m not in therapist mode, I’m...

Most likely dancing! I train in Samba and Capoeira, Afro-Brazilian dance, and martial arts with a community organization, and I am honored to get to learn, study, and perform with them around North Carolina. You can also find me listening to live drums, resting often, and spending time with my community, family, friends, and girlfriend.
