Ashlin describes her therapy style and those she works best with.
Ashlin McGuin, MSW, LCSWA
When your thoughts feel sticky, looping, latching on, or refusing to let go, it can feel like you’re fighting your own mind. Maybe you’ve tried therapy before and felt misunderstood, dismissed, or told to “just challenge the thought,” even when that didn’t touch the fear underneath. If you’re living with OCD, trauma, anxiety, chronic illness, or navigating pregnancy, postpartum, or fertility stress, you already know it’s not that simple. You’re not broken, and you’re not alone. Together, we can work on loosening the grip of those thoughts and getting you unstuck from the quicksand of your mind so you can reconnect with the present and make more room for the life you want to live.
I work with adults who feel overwhelmed by intrusive thoughts, fear cycles, trauma responses, and the pressure to “hold it all together.” My approach is direct, compassionate, and grounded in evidence‑based modalities like ACT, IFS/parts work, ERP, and person‑centered therapy. In our work, we’ll slow down the noise, understand what’s fueling the patterns that keep you stuck, and build the skills to help you move toward relief, regulation, and a life that feels more like your own.
Therapy with me is collaborative and active. I’ll meet you exactly where you are, and I’ll also hold you accountable to the work, because real change requires both support and courage. You don’t have to stay caught in fear, avoidance, or shame. You deserve to feel hopeful, heard, and capable of healing. If you’re ready, let’s get to it.
My Experience
I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate with specialized experience supporting individuals living with OCD, trauma, anxiety, chronic or terminal illness, and relational stress. I’ve worked extensively with clients navigating family planning, infertility, pregnancy, postpartum, and the emotional complexity that comes with these seasons. My background includes trauma‑informed care for survivors of human trafficking and sexual assault, as well as work with active‑duty service members, Veterans, and healthcare professionals. These experiences shape the grounded, steady, and deeply human approach I bring to therapy.
When I’m not in therapist mode, I’m...
I’m usually cuddling my co-therapist pup, Clementine, baking something new, cross-stitching while listening to audiobooks, or playing cozy video games. I’m also a cinephile and music lover who enjoys movie days and live concerts.
